Subject: GFE Explaination
First time home buyer here, not very familiar with all the terms.
was hoping someone could take a look at a gfe i was given by the broker im working with and tell me if anything seems out of place?
you can see my gfe here:
http://hoffmangonzalez.com/bin/gfe1.pdf

things like discount points? are these required or optional?

another question is..how can i look at what the rate on a 30year fixed mortgage is today?

I assume you have some trust on your broker that he/she can give you the best deal for you.
The best thing you could do is ask for referrals, name an number of past clients to see if they will use this broker again.
Ask the same questions over and over until you understand them, that's is the purpose of the gfe.

Mr Gonzalez,
The mortgage professional you're working with should already have explained to you, line by line what each charge reflects. If you're looking for an experienced and knowledgeable mortgage professional that explains each part of the transaction, and you're buying or refinancing a home in California, please call my office at 800-785-4952.
